Optimizer Home Page
Optimizer is a program which can help you to achieve as high
lossy compression as is visually acceptable. Input files are
in jpg, png or pnm formats and output can be jpeg, jp2 (JPEG 2000)
or djvu/c44 (DJVU). After opening the file you can adjust quality
using horizontal slidebar named quality. Radiobuttons on the
top select output format, you must have jasper executable in
path ( http://www.ece.uvic.ca/~mdadams/jasper/ ) if you want
Jpeg 2000 support and djvulibre ( http://djvu.sourceforge.net/ )
if you want c44/djvu support in this program. If optimizer can't find
jasper or c44 executable, appropriate radiobuttons are inactive.
Output files after pressing save button are in the same directory
as input files but have changed extension (jpg, jp2, djvu).
Be aware of the fact that if input file is jpeg, it will be
overwritten by the "optimised" version. In principle this program
is a shell which executes several external programs, so if anything
go wrong you should see this on a console. Good luck !
